Line with precision, gesture and expression – join us for an exploration of Schiele drawing and mixed media techniques- with fabulous models and costume!

Explore strong use of line and color to bring a real sense of personality to your portraits – with plenty of demonstrations and information on technique we will be taking a deep dive into Egon Schiele’s approach to the model. Each week we will look at a different aspect of Schiele’s approach; line quality, mark-making, composition and paint handling using either gouache or watercolour (or whatever you have to hand).

There will be lots of demos and information on Schiele and his influences to really allow us to get into his process.

With fantastic models, looks and insightful teaching this really promises to be a super course with lots of portrait exploration Schiele style!

Suggested materials:

–       Pencils 2B / 6B
–       Gouache / watercolours (with a white gouache)
–       Conte pencil / charcoal pencil
–        A3 paper (white/off white cartridge)
–       Toned paper or self toned paper (this will be discussed in class)
