PORTRAIT PAINTING SARGENT STYLE – WITH KIM SCOULLER: 22 JUNE

Following our sold out workshop in April- we are returning to Sargent for a second fantastic workshop:
Stylish, fashion led portrait painting with the great Kim Scouller!

We take inspiration from Sargent’s lush painterly portraits of the late nineteenth century, and explore his masterful techniques for capturing the elegance and expression of his glamorously styled sitters.

Working from the model, you will try out Sargent’s approach and palette to make an alla prima (in one go) portrait. Demonstrations will be given on his particular approach of working from an underpainting to then build colour through softening and layering seemingly spontaneous paint marks. Over the day you will gain lots of insights about the life and models of this prolific portrait painter.
