DRAWING THEATRE AT THE NATIONAL GALLERY – FRIDAY LATE

We are really excited to be working with our friends at the fabulous National Gallery in collaboration with performance artist Mab George Sanders to host an evening of life drawing featuring contemporary interpretations of Quinten Massys’s Renaissance painting, ‘The Ugly Duchess’, and her suitor.

Description

Looking to representations of the body and fluid identities found in contemporary art, and citing artists such as Cindy Sherman and ORLAN as influences, we explore present day ideas of beauty through a satirical lens, just as Massys did in the 16th century.

Prepare to leave your average life drawing session at the door and join us!

Limited materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own sketchbook and pencils.

The workshop is repeated twice on the evening. You may attend one session only. Please pick up a wristband
in the room from 5.45pm to secure your entry to a session.

Venue:
National Gallery
Trafalgar Square, London

Friday 21 April
Admission free
Session One: 6.15-7pm
Session Two: 7.15-8pm
