Join us for a brand new two part Saturday course exploring mediums and mark making – with costumed models- and the award winning Kim Scouller!

This course brings together two masters of colour and expression—David Hockney and Vincent van Gogh—to inspire dynamic, character-filled portraits- and gives us not just one but two days to take a deep dive into their mediums and processes

Over two Saturdays, you’ll explore portraiture through their eyes, starting with expressive pen and ink drawing inspired by their richly detailed mark-making. From there, we’ll move into painting with bold colour and energetic brushstrokes, focusing on capturing the personality and presence of your sitter.

You’ll learn how to use mark-making to create movement and energy, and how to plan a portrait painting that feels confident, expressive, and alive.

Expect experimentation, observation, and plenty of colour.
