Join us for an exciting new printmaking workshops with the great James Hague!

We will be spending the day exploring a range of printing techniques based on wood cut and lino. Experiment with texture, line, positive, negative and descriptive mark making to build expressive prints. James has a wealth of knowledge with regard to expressive and emotive drawing and has so much to offer with regard to translating this into printing, he is a great tutor to learn with-

Subject wise – we will be focusing on portrait.  James particular expertise is in figurative drawing so we will make the most of that and ask you to bring photos or drawings of figurative subjects/ portraits.

An introduction to wood/lino relief/reduction printing- what you will work on thoughout the day:

How to choose an image (participants should bring a selection of images ,drawings to work from, nothing to complicated)
How to simplify and transfer an image onto a printing surface
An introduction to materials, tools and techniques
Cutting and mark making
Printing a proof
Printing final Plates
