Join us for a day of fantastic drawing and painting exploration as we take a deep dive into Hockney’s iconic portraits with the award winning Kim Scouller!
We will be working with performer / models with styled costumes and simple sets to inspire your work and channel the great man himself – as a spring board into exploring his imagery and processes using a range of mediums.
We will take a deep dive into Hockney’s process- exploring portraiture through his eyes, starting with expressive pen and ink drawing inspired by their richly detailed mark-making. From there, we’ll move into painting with bold colour and energetic brushstrokes, focusing on capturing the personality and presence of your sitter.
This is a great chance to develop dynamic, character-filled portraits – you’ll learn how to use mark-making to create movement and energy, and how to plan a portrait painting that feels confident, expressive, and alive.
Expect experimentation, observation, and plenty of colour!
We are running a second workshop focusing on the great Van Gogh on the 21 March- with Van Gogh inspired set ups, processes and mediums-Â
If you would like to take both workshops consecutively you can buy both together for the reduced price of £175 all materials included- see below for details
