Saturday Portrait drawing, 15 August 2020

2020 is the year in which I learned to draw portraits. I always thought it a weakness, struggling to capture a likeness, never mind any kind of emotion or sense of character. Having access to models in close up on screen has opened up opportunities for an extremely short sighted person like me to develop these skills. Trixie is an amazing character model and this session was a particularly moving one for me. In the final pose Trixie wore a pair of specs very similar to the ones that blighted my teenage years. I chose this quick study though for the unexpected emotional impact conveyed by a woman stripped of her make-up.
