Process & Practice Portrait: Käthe Kollwitz Style with artist Jonathan Farr

We are really excited to present a series of four Tutorial Tool Box self portrait sessions exploring the processes, techniques and impulses of well known yet contrasting artists as springboards of inspiration with artist and educator Jonathan Farr @jonnyfsfarr

Session 3: Käthe Kollwitz

This session we will focus on Kathe Kollwitz and her emotionally powerful drawings as inspiration.
How are you feeling today, this week, this year? Can you draw something of this feeling within your self portrait?
Look, contemplate, breathe and draw. Shapes of dark and light, forms, layering line. Your gaze.

We will investigate markmaking, gesture and composition to convey atmosphere and emotion, creating powerful and compelling self portraits
