‘Lucia Gaze,’ by Josie Deighton

‘Lucia Gaze,’ by Josie Deighton, ink and watercolour on paper, 21 x 15cm.

Work produced drawing Saturday life drawing on 8th Febuary.

I love drawing people looking out back at the viewer, but in real life this can be quite rare to get, as its quite intense to hold eye contact for long periods of time. However on zoom, models are often needing to look at the camera to adjust the pose so we can enjoy this view. Additionally the gaze and attitude of the model is different and more relaxed than in real life asthe model is able to be far more comfortable with themselves at home with their phone and we are getting to draw as if we were sitting right opposite them gazing into their eyes.
