Get ready for a rigorous Coloured Portrait Masterclass!

Join us for a four week intensive Coloured Portrait Portrait Masterclass led by London Drawing tutor Susannah Pal. @macclesfield_art_tutor

The aim of this course is to learn the process Susannah uses to create a coloured pencil portrait from start to finish.

Susannah will teach her four part process:
Produce a tonal graphite drawing
Create a range of swatches to explore how to create rich colours and textures (like blemishes and wrinkles).
Produce a coloured grisaille underdrawing
Layer coloured pencils to produce one sustained portrait

Susannah will demonstrate with a bird’s eye camera above her drawing and talk through her methods continuously during the sessions. You will be sent the model’s photo in advance to have it printed out or visible on the screen.

Recordings will be made available to everyone which can be watched and re-watched for one month after the class- so you can catch up if you miss sessions and recap if you need to go into more depth.

There will be opportunities during the class to receive tutor feedback.

Essential materials:
At least 12 assorted coloured pencils. (Recommend Faber-Castell Polychromos Coloured Pencil Set of 12 for a good basic range)
Smooth Hot Pressed Watercolour Paper
A good eraser – (recommended- Faber Castell Dust Free)
A couple of soft pencils (3B – 7B)
Tissue
Tracing paper
A decent pencil sharpener
A teaspoon
